Best way to see and tour Fort Lauderdale is on the Water Taxi. Get on and off at different stops. Shop, eat, go to Hollywood, and during the Winter go to South Beach without having to worry about parking fees everywhere. Show your Water taxi ticket and get discounts at several restaurants listed in their brochure or on their website
My full day of Water Taxi started at Pirate Republic Restaurant and Bar Stop12 The day will be shown in a series of Blog posts featuring different stops or sights along the way. Look for links at the bottom. Love the Day!

When you approach from Land getting on the Water Taxi at the Pirate Republic there are lots of props for the theme including Pirates, Wenches, Parrot, Parking sign, and flags. It is full of fun delights for the current Pirate craze brought on by the Pirates of Caribbean and Johnny Depp.
Lovely Parrot at Land Entrance Pirate Republic
Each stop along the way has fascinating restaurants or sights and it is so great to get out on the water instead of trying to park a car and find places. Many of the captains can guide you to eating places or what to see along the way or the best stop for the Beach or boating or shopping or eating.
Waiting for Water Taxi at Pirate Republic Stop12
Waiting at the beginning of my day on the pier or in the shade I can see the Water Taxi sign to know where to pick up the Boat to start my Day. This was an incredible day with wonderful colors on the buildings and in the water. Anyone living in Fort Lauderdale can easily create a vacation day on the Water Taxi. Many living along the water way have an annual pass where they can be picked up at their house dock and dropped off there later that night.
Awesome sign makes one laugh
There are other boats that offer tours but they are only 1 1/2 hours and cost way more than $20 for all day on Water Taxi. Love the freedom to get on and off and this trip I did that several times. One price for the entire day makes this the least expensive and most worthwhile form of transportation. Fort Lauderdale has parking meters Everywhere and it is costly even to go to a pharmacy. The waterways of Fort Lauderdale are canals everywhere like Venice with many boats along the seawall.
Huge boats everywhere. Many high-rise Condos line the shore especially as you take the trip to Hollywood, Florida.
Aboard the Water Taxi we are enroute to the next stop Briny Riverfront Pub Stop 11 right next to the Water Taxi Garage where you can park all day for $5 This is a great place to start your day and end it here later.
Water Taxi Garage
305 S Andrews Ave
$5.00 All day parking and you can buy your tickets there.
Late at night about 11pm, on our approach to Briny Riverfront Pub, yes, stop 11, someone jumped in the Water from the Pier. It was very dark out and strong current with not easy access out of the water. Not the cleanest water with all the power boats and such going through. Not sure if it was alcohol that prompted the swim or what but Water Taxi Boat Captain decided to hang out a little to make sure the guy made it to safety. Once the young person was safely on land, we head to my Stop back at the Pirate Republic.
As I walked to my car, it was easy to be thankful for a great end to a wonderful day on the Water with lots of water, sun, boats, and craziness of the public to enjoy a varied day.

This is a great idea…The next time we head down to Ft. Lauderdale, we’ll have to check this out. You mentioned getting down to South Beach, does the taxi go that far?

Deej,
During the winter months they have service to South Beach. It really is a convenient way to enjoy Fort Lauderdale and not drive and pay high fees. Just you have to get back to your origination point by a certain time unless you are staying in a hotel over night somewhere and buying a second day.

I love water taxis. They had them when I lived in Pittsburgh and it was always fun to ride.
