Travel Tips Legoland Billund Denmark
A trip of a lifetime while traveling in Denmark in early 1990s. Traveling Europe alone without the language skills of each country was exhilarating, exciting, scary, fun, and adventurous.
Having a brochure of Billund, Denmark Legoland Park my adventure began. I had been traveling about three weeks and navigating the Scandinavian Countries safely when I decided to venture off the main train and walking paths.I love theme parks. Tivoli in Copenhagen was fun too (Another post for another time)
Taking trains, buses, ferries are normal modes of transportation in European Countries. Many of the drivers of buses or trains or ferries have a working knowledge of English. I had not idea how far the Legoland Park was from my starting point. As I took buses and changed buses the landscape changed to country. How far out was this park? Where was I going to stay?
Arriving finally about 3pm, the park was open a few more hours. There was no going back now. The excited child in me overcame the Fear in me. There was one hotel right there and that would be where I would stay for the night. I do not remember the cost but it was my only choice without transportation. My solution for my fear was to go to the Park and play right away. Adventures are Adventurous. Tomorrow would be another day to worry but for today, I was safe. I would spend part of the next day and then travel back to civilization.
Rides and mini lands of places throughout Denmark and around the World . I was mesmerized by the minilands of so many landmarks I knew in Europe or scenery of Norwegian towns. Familiar with many of the ports I had arrived by boat in Norway were represented in the layouts.

Love all the people I met along the way while engaging in tourist and non tourist activities. Visit Denmark Site has Photos of Legoland Billund, Denmark Navigating a country alone sometimes is much easier than in a group because people want to help you. Using your instincts for asking directions is important. The places at the rail stations are VERY helpful in Europe for finding accommodations and finding safe places to stay. They apparently are adept at keeping tourists safe or at least they were in ALL my experiences.
At the end of my trip I was flying out of Copenhagen and had a hotel reservation I had made through a travel agent before leaving America. Once at the hotel, I changed to another one. The one I was in was where all the tourist hotels were situated but was in the middle of the Red Light district. Wandering by foot during the day it was easy to find a more suitable and lower cost hotel since I still had a few days left before my plane left.
Several Wonderful YouTube Videos of the park and the mini lands and commercials are informative. The park has changed since my visit with many new and fun attractions

[...] Love Legoland Denmark which meant I had to go to Legoland California. A 128 acre park will keep you busy wandering and enjoying all the fun activities. I remember when I was in Denmark there was a room for the kids to play with Lego’s and there were kids from many nations playing. Language did not matter. International relations were the highlight of watching the children enjoy and communicate. Travel Story on Legoland Billund Denmark [...]
